Zone Alarm PC Security Free Firewall

Active antivirus software is a must on any computer, however, no antivirus solution can offer the complete block from unwanted viruses and Trojans. Unfortunately, the average antivirus misses 1 in 3 new viruses and does not protect from hacking attacks. That's why you also need a strong firewall.

Zone Alarm is one of the best known effective and easy-to-use software based computer firewalls on the market. The free version of the software features an anti-virus and anti-spyware engine and anti-phishing checks that give you protection that goes way beyond the Microsoft Windows firewall solution. Nowhere else can you get a solution that gives you complete inbound and outbound control over the network traffic on your computer and offers unique additional protections such as DefenseNet.

Reviews

ZoneAlarm Firewall Free 9.2 has gotten quieter and more effective, and should be considered an excellent tool for replacing the adequate default Windows firewall with a stronger option that includes better outbound protection, antiphishing guards, and ZoneAlarm's behavioral detection network.

The changes made to improve the default firewall in Windows 7 are impressive, but the newest version of the free ZoneAlarm Firewall argues that Microsoft still has a long way to go. ZoneAlarm 9.2 introduces multiple new features to one of the world's oldest computer security programs including quieter outbound protection, behavioral detection from the ZoneAlarm Internet security suite, automatic Wi-Fi security setting activation, antiphishing protection, an overhauled ZoneAlarm toolbar, and 2GB of online storage for free.

Using ZoneAlarm free firewall software provides you with antispyware, antivirus, and antiadware software on your PC that is a necessity. Zone Alarm reviews have generally given this software raves and recommendations.

Free of charge, you can download the ZoneAlarm free firewall software and install it right away on your computer for testing. It works to block uninitiated and unwanted traffic, both incoming and outgoing, even while your computer remains unattended and the connection is unused. By specifying which applications can gain access to the worldwide web, the software limits your exposure to threats and attacks.
Like all other firewall software products, the Zone Alarm freeware also has disadvantages. You’ll find that support for both Windows 98 and Windows Me has been discontinued. The ZoneAlarm free firewall software was originally developed by Zone Labs, which was later acquired in 2003 by Check Point.

  • Pros
Protects against hack attacks. Controls how programs access the Internet. Resists attack by malware. SmartDefense Advisor cuts way down on popup queries. Toolbar blocks phishing and malware-hosting sites. Includes online backup and identity protection.

  • Cons
Doesn't report attempted Web-based exploits. Toolbar includes numerous features not relevant to security.

  • Bottom Line
This new version of the ever-popular ZoneAlarm firewall eliminates most popup firewall queries and adds a toolbar that blocks phishing and malware-hosting sites. The result is an excellent, free firewall.

Avast is the best antivirus and troujan remover I could find, and it is free. I have had troujan on my machine and could not get rid of it for ages. A friend introduced me to avast and it took the problem away. So avast 100%.
