Pazera Freeware Uninstaller

The free software market is huge, and is going bigger and bigger every day. It has everything you need for your daily routine or special needs. The key is to locate the software utilities which fill your needs. If you read the developer’s description for each program, you may think that it is indeed the only and the best. But, in many cases, you realize that it is not as good as it was promised, or it is really good, but it is not what you need.

The only way to create a personal software package, covering everything, the only way is to try. If the program is portable, which I personally love and use, you have no issues. Tried, did not like, closed, deleted. No changes made on your PC (if the software is really portable). But not everything has been created by developers without installation on your Hard Disk requirements.

What is a big deal? – Will ask newbie, - I will not use it, and it does not bother me.
What is a big deal? – Will ask more experienced use, - I can always uninstall it with Add/Remove built-in Windows feature.

Unfortunately, leaving the unneeded software, drivers, registry entries, and simply data, is causing the system become sluggish, and increase chances for the software conflicts and crashes. And Add/Remove feature is so basic, that it fails to perform appropriate clean-up after the software removal. In some cases, it cannot even remove the software at all.

The demand in Clean Uninstall solution brings multiple developers in this niche.

Free Uninstaller is the freeware software un-installation utility - advanced replacement for standard Windows Add/Remove program option. It is faster than system applet and contains advanced features and capabilities. The main task is smooth removal of the applications, installed on your PC, and cleaning of all invalid entries from the uninstall list.

The Free Uninstaller interface is a very simple and user-friendly. It consists of 3 main elements: toolbar with the most frequently used functions, list of the installed applications, and bottom panel with additional information about the selected application. To uninstall program, select it on the list and click Uninstall. To remove program from list, select it and click Remove.

Invalid elements are highlighted with red. System components are highlighted with dark blue. Since removing system components can damage the operating system, they are hidden by default.

Main Features

  • Removing/uninstalling multiple programs at once. Just select desired applications on the list and click Uninstall or Remove button. (To select multiple programs use Ctrl key.)
  • Removing invalid entries from the system uninstall list.

MiTeC Task Manager DeLuxe

In my previous post, I have presented very nice freeware tool - MiTec Windows File Analyzer. Today, I would like to offer you another freeware MiTeC product – task manager, which is designed to replace the standard device manager utility, embedded in Windows. MiTeC utility will help you to operate your tasks with better set of options, while not demanding from you being super computer geek.

Task Manager DeLuxe is a straightforward Task Manager alternative which provides more details about the processes running on your PC.

The program doesn't divide these up into Applications, Processes and "Processes from all users", for instance - just launch Task Manager DeLuxe and it'll include everything in a single Processes tab. It's able to display those processes in a list or tree form. And filters mean you can view, say, all the system processes, or all non-responding processes in a click or two, making it easy to find what you need.

Expand the Process Details tab and you're able to view useful information about any process at a glance (working set, number of threads, number of windows and so on). This can't compete with tools like Process Explorer or Process Hacker - there's no option to, say, view each thread in turn to see what it's doing, and critically not even a report on CPU usage - but the program still offers enough information to be useful.

The Services tab then details your installed services. There's a fraction more information here than you'd get with regular Task Manager - you get to see the service startup type and executable file name, for instance - and you're also able to filter the list by typing in your own keyword (type "print" to display only the Print Spool, say).

And elsewhere, a Sessions tab shows you network users connected to your PC, an Autoruns tab lists programs configured to launch when Windows starts, and a Performance tab graphs CPU and memory usage history, while also providing useful information that you won't find in the regular Task Manager (MAC and IP addresses, for instance).

Task Manager DeLuxe isn't particularly powerful, then. If you need total control over every thread then you still need something like Process Hacker. If you're looking for something simpler, though, less technical and intimidating, but still an improvement on what Windows has to offer, then Task Manager DeLuxe could be the ideal choice.

Verdict:

Task Manager DeLuxe is a handy intermediate-level tool, notably more powerful than Windows own task manager, but not as complex or intimidating as something like Process Hacker.

Create bootable USB drive an easy way with Rufus

One of the memory cards for my mobile phone started to “show up”. Intermittent data transfer errors and phone operation frequent interruptions forced me to replace the card.

After the replacement, I started investigation on the faulty unit. Roughly, there are two reasons for the card malfunction: hardware and software (formatting). If the hardware is impacted, there is not much we can do. If format is affected, the card can be easily reformatted.

However, Windows built-in formatting utility was not able to perform the formatting of my poor memory card. At this point I have searched for the suitable software. And here, Rufus came to the spotlight. Rufus is a small utility that helps format and create bootable USB flash drives, such as USB keys, pen drives, memory sticks, etc.

It can be especially useful for cases where:
* You need to create USB installation media from bootable ISOs (Windows, Linux, etc.)
* You need to work on a system that doesn't have an OS installed.
* You need to flash a BIOS or other firmware from DOS.
* You want to run a low-level utility.

Despite its small size, Rufus provides you with everything you need!

Two versions of Rufus to download are provided for your convenience: one with FreeDOS support and one without.

Software is absolutely portable. Once downloaded, the application is ready to use — no installation or other files are necessary.
