Enhanced Webcam Functions with ManyCam

CNet Download is considered as one of the most popular and respectable sources for the freeware downloading. ManyCam Virtual Webcam utility with almost 5 million downloads is positioned under number 32 on the list of the most popular utilities.

What ManyCam can do for you?

- Use your webcam with multiple programs simultaneously.
- Add text to your webcam video window with any application.
- Add cool animations to your video window.
- Show your local day and date in your video window.
- Show your country's flag in your video window.
- Add live CGI (computer generated special effects and graphics), like fire and water effects. You can even make it appear as if it is snowing inside your house!

Manycam allows you to use your Webcam with multiple programs at the same time. Broadcast your Webcam on MSN Messenger, Yahoo!, Skype, AIM, Paltalk, and Camfrog all simultaneously.

Once you've installed ManyCam, you need to set ManyCam as the primary input for program that you want to use. ManyCam will automatically start when activate your Webcam through that program. The application includes a bunch of gimmicky features that let you change aspects of the background and foreground. You can map a new pair of cartoon eyes over your face, and they track pretty well to your movements, or you can show that your life is hell by replacing the background with flames.

There is an unfortunate toolbar that will install unless you opt out during setup, so do not rush through the installation process and keep in mind that you need to uncheck the optional installation of toolbar.

How to Get Started

If you are running ManyCam and wish to re-install it, the old one will be closed and removed automatically during the new installation.

1.      Download ManyCam on your computer. The link to download is at www.manycam.com
2.      Launch the executable file (for example manycam.exe) and follow the installation instructions.
3.      During the installation you’ll be asked to install a new hardware. Click “continue anyway” to proceed.
4.      When installation is completed, launch the program

ManyCam Use Instructions
  1. Launch the ManyCam application.
  2. Choose Webcam in “Select video source” in the ManyCam tray menu. This is done by finding the ManyCam icon in your right bottom system tray area and right clicking it.

  4. From now on when use this application, ManyCam will be automatically started. If you no longer want to use ManyCam you can go back to the programs video settings and change your video source.
  5. Right click the ManyCam icon in the bottom right system tray on your screen to choose to show animations, change your settings and use other features.

Modern Desktop Application Manager - Krento

How do you execute applications on your PC? Do you consider this aspect of computer operation important? Do you want to enhance it and put new advanced opportunities to speed the process? Take a look on the freeware utility Krento, and you might be able to disregard the old way, you used, forever.

With Krento you can launch your programs or open web pages from a visually attractive and comfortable to use circular 3D dock. You can save and load your docks, having more than one application set available.

Krento runs in the background from the system tray, and can be launched by either right-clicking the icon, clicking your mouse's scroll wheel, hitting Windows + C, or double-clicking a toggled "pulsar"—basically a small, semi-transparent animated icon—in the corner of your screen. To launch a program, just click on its box (or "stone", as Krento calls it). Or, if you don't want to move from the keyboard, you can also hit ctrl + the function key that corresponds to the program.

To add programs to the launcher, just drag and drop them onto a stone. You can even create multiple "circles" for different categories of programs, so you're not just limited to 12. Krento is also skinnable (it comes with a bunch of its own skins, but is also compatible with RocketDock skins), and takes up very little RAM and CPU, which is always nice—especially for something that looks this good.

Note that the stone can be a shortcut or even a mini-application (widget).

Krento requires .Net Framework 2.0 installed and compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7

Main Features

Krento puts all your documents, applications and Internet bookmarks just a single click away.
-        Drag and drop for files and Internet bookmarks
-        Easy usage with mouse or with keyboard
-        Instantly accessible at any time
-        Open, extendible architecture
-        Compatible with Rocket Dock skins

Free software for selective coloring

Tintii Photo Filter takes full color photos and processes them into black and white with some select regions highlighted in color. The technique is known as color popping or selective coloring – tintii makes it easy.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

With Tintii Photo Filter you can easily apply eye-catching color effects to your pictures. The filter removes all colors from the original photo, leaving only traces of certain tones. Think of the red coat in that memorable scene in Schindler's list, and you'll get the idea.

On opening, Tintii displays four thumbnails. One is entirely grayscale. The other three are grayscale with a single color retained. You can increase the number of thumbnails, which creates more and more subtle color separations. Then, click on one or more thumbnails to include the selected colors in your final image. That's all there is to it.

The dialog is enlargeable to your full screen, and because the preview window is zoomable, you can view lots of detail in your image. However, the thumbnails are fixed at very small sizes that sometimes make it difficult to tell what your results will be until you click on the thumbnail to look at the effect on your preview.

Tintii's slider controls are limited, and, depending upon the color composition of your original picture, you may end up with some unwanted areas of color in the background. That's why you might want to consider purchasing a key for the very inexpensive Photoshop plug-in ($9 only) so you can use Tintii with your imaging program's tools to help refine your picture. The interface of the Photoshop plug-in (which is not available on Linux) is nearly identical to the standalone, with the added advantage of being able to fit Tintii in your normal imaging workflow.

Tintii is a remarkably easy solution for a color-popping effect that normally would take you lots of time (as well as skill and effort) carefully using your imaging program's selection and color tools. We highly recommend trying it.

Update:

Since the software was reviewed, it is no longer freeware for Windows and Mac, while the free rial is provided. For Linux, it remains open source free utility.
